Start by
putting together a list of what is most important to you and
your fiancé. These are the most important things to keep in
mind during the whole planning process.
-
Put
together a budget and stick to it! Some of the biggest
wedding stress can come from money issues. Decide from the
beginning who is paying for what and how much exactly you
have to spend. If you stick to your budget your experience
will be much more stress free.
-
Put
everything in writing
- Keep written notes when you talk to and/or hire vendors.
Make sure to also save any email correspondence. This helps
you manage expectations and is also a great source of ideas.
-
Create a
planning binder
– You can do anything from a 3 ring binder to a notepad. Use
this to organize your vendor contracts, wedding ideas, and
any correspondence between yourself and the vendors. Having
everything in a one place makes it easier to manage the
process.
-
Do your
guest list as early in the planning process as possible!
The guest list has many factors weighing on it from the
wedding budget to the location of your reception.
-
Check
references –
If a vendors is unable to provide references there may be a
reason. Talk to other brides that have used them so you have
a full story.
-
Start
planning early
- Begin planning your wedding as early as possible. This
will increase your chances of reserving the venues and
vendors that you want. You don’t want to settle for less
than what you want.
-
Make a
schedule of your day-
A wedding is a big production that normally involves many
different. Help them all out by telling them where you want
them to be and when. Don’t only do this for your bridal
party, but for vendors as well. It may save you some
headaches in the end.
